Session 7: Dark Caribbean

We arrive on Scorpion’s Delight at a fresh water stream surrounded by pleasant palm trees. We head north along the stream into the thick jungle which slopes ever upwards.

Nearing the mountaintop we are met by blood curdling scream which, upon investigation, leads us to an overgrown temple.

A beautiful stone portal greets us with the smell of death wafting from within. A series of stone puzzle tiles lays nearby and as we begin to inspect them a bull sized, pedipalp-less scorpion named Kenneth appears and introduces itself.

Kenneth requests our help to solve the puzzle to retrieve an artifact as he is older and requires assistance, promising us a boon in return.

Agreeing to assist with the puzzle we begin moving the stone tiles into the central raised area. Light shines from above onto a blood-stained altar in the centre of the room, a narrow hole in the altar presents a draft.

There are open temple doors to the west and a mouse hole shaped opening, large enough for a small person to squeeze through, in the SW corner.

Bart and Middleton begin moving tiles (21 in total!). Adam Smith deduces 2 tiles per platform (11) and one may be missing. As we finish laying the tiles we discover 2 pieces missing and one superfluous piece, Mariana inspects the mouse hole where another plinth awaits.

Now 3 pieces short Mariana and Middleton explore the mouse hole and discover a corpse covered in puncture wounds, a puzzle piece and a figurine worth 200g.

Now 2 puzzle pieces short we head west through the temple doors. 3 large, sealed ceramic urns to the north and 2 puzzle pieces to the south. Having completed the puzzle the altar opened into the darkness below and Kenneth implored us to retrieve the artifact from the depths. We reveal a map advising of traps to the E, NE and NW.

Following our descent into darkness we arrived in a pool of blood surrounded by 5 entrances.

A cave-in to the west, shrine to Mother Earth south where we discovered 3 tiaras, a room full of bones at which point we were surprised by 4 scorpions. Almost as surprised as they were to get absolutely obliterated and milked (thus giving us 8x the poison we required!).

The next chamber over revealed tapestries of worship to Mother Earth and a storeroom of decaying matter.

An empty chamber of treasureless sarcophagi to the east lead us to a brief rest before proceeding north.
