Session 10: Witchy Beaches

There being no easy way to say it, we were immediately set upon by eels as we sought our return and Cap’n, seemingly stricken, aged to a wizened crone before our eyes.

The eels ripped Adam and the raving hobo from our dinghy, though Adam was quickly released due to a sound musketing from myself and his own efforts to escape.

The 2nd eel was resilient, yet we prevailed and began rowing back to The Starfly, seeing floating pieces of hobo chum as we went.

We boarded and began to settle Lucinda into her quarters when Bart appeared to have an epiphany but then quickly returned to staring blankly into the night.

Lucinda was safely returned in a tearful reunion, as we spun a tale of our virility and prowess to the Zacharys who promptly rewarded us with 500s.

Kimona reminded us that we were missing some alligator for her poison, and tells us of the Lake of Drink & Die nearby where we could find what we need, but first… RUM!!

Post carousing I awoke 39s poorer, buried to my neck in the market.

Mariana returned from the hunt looking more robust than the prior eve.

Adam having broken into prison, awoke fully nude aside from a fancy new tricorn hat but was promptly released.

While attempting to obtain attire for Adam we overheard that the Koslevs had offered to rebuild the Customs House and Mission Station and that Big Gun Gus has joined the Magistrate’s Office.

Adam, freshly adorned in a fancy courtiers outfit, looked prepared for the Opry or a visit to ol’ Drink & Die Swamp.

Traversing the ground increased in difficulty as we marched north, circling towards a cabin on the eastern shore, when 3 ravenous plants appeared. Bart immediately got to gardening as we pruned away at the remaining 2 shrubs.

Adam was caught unaware by one of the remaining vegetables and his hand was dissolved in its sap.

After a prolonged battle we completed the harvest and Adam was revived to begin a dark ritual which left he and I revitalized but older and, in my case, a more dried-out husk.

As we journeyed forth we were approached by a bedraggled stranger wielding a ship’s wheel as a shield and carrying a bucket in his other hand.

He begged us for water for him and for Travis, a tiny fish within the bucket.

Unfortunately for this lost wanderer our party is not big on “water” so we offered to have him accompany us to the nearby cabin.

Bart kicked open the cabin door to discover an abandoned fishing shack, though Cap’n noticed some loose floor boards which revealed a heavy chest filled with 600s.

Cap’n, seemingly on a roll, also discovered a map behind a chimney stone – “What do you idiots make of this?” – she asked?

And I was quick to ascertain it was this very lake and the ‘X’ is marked on a small island in the center of the lake. Looking for the shortest swim to the island Cap’n became mired in quicksand though was quickly saved by the thick, ropey efforts of her crew.

Upon the shore a spectral shark was sent forth to flush out the beasts of the deep and 2 large alligators appeared to eat shot and suck tentacle as we were well prepared for their assault.

One beast was quickly dealt with as its friend fled in presumed terror. Bart retrieved the dead alligator as Adam geared down to swim to the island. The 2nd alligator returned and swam past Adam as Bart launched himself into the water and grappled the reptile.

Using the rope Bart had the foresight to tie to himself I pulled him and the gator to shore as Adam arrived on the island and very quickly uncovered a treasure chest with 600s.

Back on the shore the gator broke free of Bart’s grasp and was set upon by our new companion and his spiked ship wheel – stab, stab – but it is a mystic tentacle which seals the gators fate.

Adam and the treasure are triumphantly delivered to us by the spectral shark and we began the saliva extraction process.

Our new friend – Jim Savage – agreed to join our crew for one year with the notice that Big Gun Gus wanted him dead.
